In the trial “The Jury's Out,” it was discussed whether or not Feanor and his sons were responsible for the Doom of Mandos and Noldor due to their binding oath. The defense faced many charges, including arson, kin slaying, not refusing illegal and immoral orders, sins of pride and betrayal, armed theft, swearing fealty to a false lord, and dooming of their own people. The jury had found the defense guilty of multiple counts of kin slaying, theft, and arson. From the role of Varda which I was assigned, this did not shape my view of the characters very much, but it did help me to see the importance of keeping the Silmarils safe. Even though Feanor and his sons did have the right idea in mind that they should protect the Silmarils, but the oath was not the best way to do so. As a member of t...

Some may assume that I do not play a role in the events of Beren and Lúthien, but I am involved regarding the Silmarils. When Beren falls in love with Lúthien and Thingol tasks him with bringing him a Silmaril, it seems like an impossible task, but he is determined to be with Lúthien. Morgoth has possession of the Silmarils, though he is burned by the jewels. In his crown, he is constantly tormented and burned, never allowed to rest, because of my blessing that anyone who holds them with evil intent shall be burned. Eventually, Beren goes on a quest with Lúthien to steal one of the Silmarils and they are successful. Beren is not burned by the Silmaril, as he has proper intentions and that is what the fate of the Silmaril is. But, the fate of the other jewels is not to go with Beren, breaking his knife when he tries to take the others. They flee, but Carcharoth ...

Eru’s Song: A single note, pure, bright, and deep Woke the vast darkness from the endless sleep As worlds were shaped, a light begun Notes, stars, love, and sun To overcome all the hard bitterness A plan was woven that will not hinder us Through grief, sorrow, and life that was frayed A world full of hope for everyone has been made No shadows shall fall No one shall be frightened to call For those who are true and need aid Will find that their worries will fade Newfound radiance and brightness of the world As everything has unfurled A harmony full of purity that is true All life and creation belong both old and new Instrumental Music: The Planets – “Venus, the Bringer of Peace” by Gustav Holst https://youtu.be/EE6_PacCnRw?si=i17uMOPkYKwO9Mir Melkor’s Song: The bitter notes striking away On the fractured ground it may lay As harmony unravels into dread The world is twisted, all...

Blog Assignment - Character Bio - Varda 9/15/25 To the Elves I am known as Fanuilos, “Snow-white,” and “Ever-white.” In Sindarin, I am called Elbereth, “Star-Queen,” “Lady of the Stars,” Gilthoniel, and “Star-Kindler.” These names will all forever be repeated and honored in prayers, songs, hymns, but I am still most known to all as Varda, Queen of the Valar. As one of the Ainu and Aratar, I will bring hope to all during my own time and in years and years to come. The Elves know to always call to me and look to the stars when they are in times of darkness. The light of Eru Iluvatar has radiated from me, allowing light to be brought to those in need, including the Elves. When any of my names are uttered in any place, it does praise me, but also frightens off any evil creatures or spirits, aiding those in need. The stars of Middle Earth were created by me, f...
